The Saras Group case study

Translating annual reports and shareholder communications

The Saras Group, founded by Angelo Moratti in Italy in 1962, has approximately 1,900 employees and total revenues of about 6.9 billion Euros as of 31st December 2016. Today, the Group is a leading European crude oil refiner and it is also active in the energy sector. It sells and distributes petroleum products in the domestic and international markets, directly and through its subsidiaries. The Group also operates in the production and sale of electricity, through its subsidiaries Sarlux Srl (IGCC plant) and Sardeolica Srl (Wind plant). Moreover, the Group provides industrial engineering and research services to the oil, energy and environment sectors through its subsidiary Sartec SpA.

The challenge

The Saras Group operates in the energy sector and is one of the leading independent oil refiners in Europe. The company is listed on the Italian Stock Exchange, Borsa Italiana, and therefore has to produce Quarterly and Annual reports. They require secure, professional and fast financial translations and transcriptions.

The main concerns of The Saras Group relate to security, quality and specific terminology. The translations are also needed in a short time-frame, so quick turnaround is also a key factor.

However, quality cannot be compromised and all of the translation work needs to be according to reporting guidelines and specific financial terminology. The financial translations need to be of a very high quality, and carried out by experts with relevant experience in the industry. The Saras Group has to translate their Quarterly and Full Year Financial Reports, plus occasional other translation work for shareholder communications. amity communications has always been on hand to provide (in a timely manner) their expert financial translations and transcriptions from Italian into English.

How amity communications helped

amity communications appointed a team of linguists specialising in the translation of quarterly & annual reports. A dedicated Relationship Manager and Project Manager were also appointed to manage the integration of pre-existing client style guides, preferred terminology and reference material into our secure translation memory and project management platforms. Our proprietary terminology solution ensured maximum efficiencies, both in saving costs and improving lead times.

The result

amity communications ensured fast, accurate, secure, cost-effective support and translations from day one of the contract. The process has been supported by ensuring monthly & quarterly process review meetings and as a result our services are fully aligned and focused on meeting the key focus, message and future requirements of The Saras Group.
